Fako Cataract Surgery
Fako Cataract Surgery
First, let's explain what a cataract is;

A cataract is a disease that appears by the blurring of the lens inside the eye, namely the loss of transparency of our own lens. This disorder can be age-related as well as congenital since it can also occur by infants and children.

Since it is not possible to treat cataracts with medication, the only possible treatment is surgery. However, these surgical procedures do not require hospitalization and the patients are able to return to their routine life quickly.
With the advancing technology, it is possible to get rid of the cataract within minutes with the FAKO method, also known as laser cataract surgery/seamless cataract surgery among the public.

Due to the risk of infection, both eyes are not operated in a single operation, instead, the operation of the second eye is performed 1-2 days after the first one. The procedure is completed in as little as 15-20 minutes. The patient can return to his/her daily routine and complete tasks such as driving a car, watching TV and read a book within 1-2 days.

First, the patient's eye is prepared to the operation with eye drops and numbed before the surgery, then by entering the eye through a small incision as 2 mm the cataractous lens is dissolved with Torsional Phaco Energy (Ultrasound Energy). The dissolved lens is replaced by predetermined smart lenses. No stitches are needed and the wounds heal quickly since the incision is small.
