The presbyopic lens is losing its ability to change its focus through adaptation. Presbyopia begins in the mid-forties and everyone is affected.

The main difficulty is the same as the hypermetropia. The focal point of the light rays coming from nearby objects remains at the back of the retina and is out of focus. In hypermetropia, this is the reason why the eyeball is normally short. The reason for the presbyopia condition is that the elongated lens is harder and its flexibility is reduced. This makes it difficult or impossible to sharply bend the light rays necessary for the harmony to occur, which allows the focal point to come before retinas.

When you are tired, it may be harder to read at night or in low light. Presbyopia occurs without regard to how you are visually impaired.

The first sign of presbyopia is the need to distract objects while reading. In the future, this blurred vision grows even more and the forehead and aches in the temporal region are formed. Focusing on nearby objects brings other problems with time. After reading, it may be difficult to see clearly distant objects on a temporary basis, because distant objects also require adaptation to know focus.

The only solution of presbyopia is mostly optical correction (reading glasses). Persons using lenses for myopia need double vision glasses (upper vision is for far vision and lower vision is for close vision) or they use two separate glasses.

Because of the worsening of presbyopia, prescriptions written until the late sixties change frequently. When it comes to these age, presbyopia becomes static. Since the age of 60-65, the ability to focus on the eye actuala wide range of patientsly stops because of the loss of flexibility of the lens. Symptoms of Presbyopia

Presbyopia patients cant’s see objects closer than 50 cm. For this reason they can see by distract objects. Headaches may also accompany the forehead and temporal regions if vision is still impaired in the future.

Multifocal contact lenses: Patients who are fit for the lens are getting successful results when using these lenses. However, patients over the age of 40 may experience problems in use due to reduced tear quality.

    One step beyond conventional monovision

    It is similar to conventional monovision with laser treatment for workflow. However, since the person makes a special correction, it is one step ahead especially in terms of the results.

    PRESBYOND Laser Concord Area

    Physiologically optimized for presbyopic patients, it is the next step in perfection that is achieved in eye treatment. As in the conventional monovision, the dominant eye is made almost zero, while the non dominant eye is left as mild as -1.5D for near vision. This micro monovision strategy is supported by a method that will increase the depth of field by creating a continuous refraction in the entire optical region of the cornea. PRESBYOND Laser Concord Area is a strictly personalized treatment that takes into account the functional age and preoperative spherical aberrations of the eye.     Concord are makes it easier for the brain to combine images from both eyes. This is a significant advantage over the conventional monovision.     Conventional Monovision

    In conventional monovision treatment methods (both surgical and contact lenses), the dominant eye is made virtually zero. The non dominant eye is usually left to myopia up to -3.0D and corrected for close vision. This method aims at providing the ideal vision near and far. After the procedure, the brain deals with two separate images that are corrected at different levels.

    Scientific studies have shown that only 59-67% of patients can successfully combine both views in order to be able to capture clear images at near and far distance. Those who concede this method remain with an uncorrected space called “Blurred Field” in the middle distance. In addition to blurred images, side effects such as contrast sensitivity and decreased visual acuity in both eyes may occur. It also usually takes a long time to get used to perceiving both images as a single image.

    Conventional monovision is a method with concessions. It is not a suitable option for a group of patients.

    Conventional monovision methods are using standard ablation profiles. The PRESBYOND Laser Concord Area includes a personal application for each eye because of the increased depth of field.

    Personal ablation

    The PRESBYOND Laser Concord Area is a personal approach that treats presbyopic diseases. Pre-operative wavefront data is imported for the calculation of the individual operation to provide the personal depth of coverage.
